Don't be surprised if Gomez gives Cotto a decent fight. This guy surprises me all the time. His biggest problem is he's not defensive enough for my tastes. He will give good to Cotto but in return will take too many left hooks. I think it's a fight definitely worth watching. Likewise DLH v. Forbes if it happens.

My thoughts on this.

I have seen a lot of tape from both these fighters. I have to say, Gomez has a shot.

The fact is, the reason his KO percent is lower than is should be is because he was fighting middleweights and SW's and he is a natural Welterweight. He is by no means faster than Cotto but he does set his own pace in most of his fights, and fights behind a sharp stinging jab that will get in the face of Cotto all night if he doesnt prepare well for this fight. Gomez does not have one punch power but he can ware people down with his sharp well placed shots. He showed that against a shot Gatti aswell aswell as Tackie, but we all know nobody can KO Tackie. For the record though, the Tackie fight was not very close, I had the fight 98-92 for Gomez. The last reason why I feel Gomez has a shot are the chins. Goemz took the best shots from hard hitting Super Middleweights and did not feel a thing. Cotto has been hurt many times from shots from Jr Welterweights. But if he does in with the attitude that he can outbox Cotto, expect a 119-111 score card.

These are the reasons why I think that Gomez has a shot against Cotto.

gomez will lose this fight hands down,cotto will end up fighting margarito and win,but he will fight one more time at the end of the year but with who?mayweather won't even think about fighting him after a fight with delahoya in sept. u never know maybe hatton might challenge him for a nov. fight.
