De La Hoya, shrewd business as ever.

So Oscar has publicly declared his desire to have Floyd Mayweather Snr in his corner for the Floyd rematch. This has many connotations most of which benefit the Golden Boy.

    1. The announcement of a rematch between Oscar and Floyd has been met with criticism from many boxing experts and fans. Most people think the fight will have a similar outcome as last time and interest may not be as high. By putting Floyd Snr in his corner, Oscar has come up with a decent way to sell the fight, Father vs Son.

    2. 24/7 has been a hugely successful tool in building interest in a fight but this particular one has already been done. By taking Floyd Snr as his trainer, Oscar is giving the HBO producers an ample amount of material for another series. Expect episodes to center on the feud between father son and uncle.

    3. Floyd Snr claims to have taught PBF all he knows, it's without question that Floyd Snr has a lot of knowledge on his son's strengths and weaknesses. So it's logical that Oscar will use Floyd Snr's inside knowledge to try and beat Floyd.

There is one aspect to this that could end up biting Oscar in the ass. The same reason why he didn't use Floyd Snr in their first meeting. Floyd's resentment of his father coupled with his uncle Roger's bad blood will prove fiery motivation for trainer and fighter alike.

I actually dont think this will happen, mayweather cotto i think will happen this year, when arum lets cotto fight him, how can people say floyd is ducking cotto, when arum booked cotto straight into a fight with Alfonso Gomez, not exactly keeping cotto's dates open is he?

I agree with you, Mayweather isnt ducking him. It's up to Cotto to make the fight. I'm pretty sure DLH V Floyd is gonna happen this year.
