Am I really the only one who notices this? People will call something a "hate thread" or reply to someone's post by saying "you're a hater" or something like that, as a way of deflecting valid criticism. The word "hater" is the most misused and overused word in the world, and people constantly throw it around because there's no way of responding to it. It ends any argument.
It's like when politicians sling mud at each other. The one who throws the mud always wins, because it puts the other person in a position where they have to defend themselves, thus ending the original argument. Thread after thread on boxingscene degenerates into an insult match after 2 pages, for this exact reason.
It's so ridiculus at this point, that I bet by the time some Floyd fans read this far, they are ready to accuse me of "sneaky Floyd hate", because the "hate police" are also "hate detectives", and they can apparently identify "haters" from amazingly small amounts of information, such as one sentence.
The truth is that I did'nt have Floyd or any other boxer in mind. I did'nt even really have boxing in mind. The "hater" insults ruin everything, from debates about music, to acting, to boxing. Someone has to back me up on this.
If you can't win an argument, then shut up. If you're arguing with a genuine hater, then you WILL win the argument. Calling someone a "hater" is easy, it's weak, and it has become a defense employed by losers when they need to escape a beating.
Tell me I'm wrong and I'll never start another thread.
