That would be a better fight than most people predict it will be IMO.

Oh for sure. Shane has a big edge in speed and skills. Not to mention he'll have a much easier time making the weight. Anyone who wants to bet points on Mayorga please give me first shot at it.

Uh, I don't think you get it. Just be glad "they" (who is they?) are trying to put fights together? What? Why? Boxing fans already put up with so much **** for the sport we care about so much. The day I am supposed to just be thankful for any damn fight getting made is the day I am gone and not looking back.

The health of this sport is not determined by merely just putting any fight you can think of together, it's about putting together the most meaningful fights first. Especially in 2007.

We could put Tua vs Tyson in a four round fight and it would probally be very exciting. But what does it mean for the heavyweights, and how does it help that division?

I could give lot's of examples of what I think COULD be entertaining but that isn't always what boxing needs most. If Mosley wants to fight at 154 that is his business. If Mayorga can't make 147 and needs to be at 154 then so be it.

But Why Would I want to see a great 147 pound fighter (Mosley) take on a fighter that would be an also-ran at welter and might not even be top 5 at 154?

Me personally, Mosley has already stated he wants to remain at welterweight cuz that is where he feels most comfortable. Going back to 154 to fight Mayorga is pointless, and accomplishes nothing. For Mosley to remain a serious contender in the WW division, he needs to face a really good WW. Clottey sounds like a really good opponent, though hes Cintrons mandatory. Cintrons busy with Margarito, so Clottey should step up for Mosley. Id even rather see Judah-Mosley even. Lets try to keep the best fighting the best, and move toward linear champs. Thats my 2 cents. I know boxing.

Shane is my favorite current fighter so I'd be interested in a Mayorga match although more interested in a Judah fight. Both are fights i expect the SugarMan to win. I think that he could get wacked with a big right on the side of the head but his body work and precise hooks will knock Mayorga out on accumulation. Most don't talk about how Vargas had Mayorga on shaky legs which is due to Vargas being strong but even as much that Mayorga just doesn't have stamina anymore. I think either fight is a lower end HBO PPV but I think they'd be entertaining fights. Has Mayorga ever really put on a stinker besides when Spinks ran away from him? Not reall and neither has Shane. I don't get the hate on Shane, these two guys are his only real options at this immediate point. Also, I don't think Shane is afraid of fighting Vernon at all. The problem is that there is neither a great deal of interest from the public nor money in the fight.

Shane's going to dismantle this cat, if some people think he even won the Cotto fight (I personally think it lost but it was close) then he's going to DESTROY this dude.

It'll be a good fight, I think Mosley will knock him out in 10 but I don't see the point of this fight.
