expect this fight to be a cat-and-mouse battle. taylor will run from pavlik because he can't withstand pavlik's punches. very evident in their first fight that pavlik's punches are packed with power that taylor find it hard to cover or make his defenses. in contrast, taylor's straights and hooks seems to have no effect in pavlik. kelly rose after he was knock down in 2. pavlik's punches will be too hard for taylor.

Here is how the fight plays out, so pay attention if you want to lay some money on it in Vegas.

Taylor comes into the ring looking like a man ready to kill. Pavlik looks like he always looks, unremarkable. Round one starts, and Taylor goes right after Kelly for two reasons, 1) to show Kelly he isnt afraid of him and he isnt afraid to throw (see Roy Jones after getting Koed to know what Taylor is trying to avoid) and 2) to try and prove to himself that he really isnt afraid of Pavliks power. He wont throw wild, but he will throw some hard shots to try and check Pavliks confidence and chin early. Just to let him know he is going after it. Pavlik never gets caught clean, but HBO will claim he has been rocked. However, after Kelly starts to fire back at Jermain (once Jermain stops throwing), it will become clear that Jermain IS gunshy, and Kelly will begin to apply the pressure. Jermain will clam up and get backed into the ropes. He gets battered into the ropes, but Kelly is careful not to throw too much so he doesnt tire himself out. Round 1 ends and Taylor looks nervous and unsteady. Two more rounds go by that are controlled by Pavlik with smart pressure as Jermain is afraid of being hit and doesnt throw much in return. 4th round comes and Kelly really starts to land on Taylor and hurts him...bad. Taylor goes down and gets up too fast. Pavlik moves in for the kill and knocks Taylor out with a right hand that goes down as one of the most brutal kos in boxing history. Taylor will never be the same fighter.

      Pavlik by KO in 4.

pavlik v taylor 2 should be awesome, this is the kind of exciting bad blood match up that makes boxing such a great sport, i think taylor was softened up a bit by that KO although he is coming back much stronger and appears to be training quite hard not sure who will win, a bit of a toss up but i reckon pavlik will be too strong but then again tayor is motivated and fired up so you never know.

It's too bad both of them can't win because I'm a big Taylor and Pavlik fan.

Regardless, there are many options for both after this fight. Good matchups and big pay days
bet you it's a draw. and a trilogy will happen in about 5 years time.

I like the ideas here. Sounds like a definite possibility of how it will play out. It is still hard for me to imagine Pavlik ending Taylor so quickly. I will say sometimes i do get upset when Lampley's enthusiasm overinfluences my understanding of the action. It's hard enough deciphering the fight in real time, it's even harder trying to be objective with Lampley screaming in my ear.

If Taylor chooses to go toe to toe he goes to sleep! If he boxes and invest in hard shots to the body, he can break Pavlik down and set up the third part of this classic rivalry! This will go down as one of the best TRIOLOGYS in boxing history!
