    Pavlik will make 2.5 - 3Million Min.

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown boxer Kelly Pavlik, the middleweight champion, will earn between $2.5 million and $3 million for his Feb. 16 fight, and that number could rise if the HBO Pay-Per-View numbers are good.

If he beats Jermain Taylor, his next bout would likely bring him at least $4 million. By comparison, he made just more than $1 million for September’s bout — which was double his previous-best purse.

“He’s the first middleweight champion for Top Rank since [Marvin] Hagler,” Top Rank Boxing spokesman Lee Samuels said. “His is the most important title we have in the company.”

Many of Pavlik’s handlers wanted to keep him on regular HBO in February, rather than HBO Pay-Per-View, so more fans could be exposed to him.

Not bad for a guy who nobody knew who he was a year ago...

Its all paying off now for Pavlik, good for him.

      Go Kelly!

I'm hoping he remains middleweight champ for awhile, but I think he'll move up to super middleweight next year.

I always wonder when they toss around these figures, how much do they actually keep?...after taxes, fees, trainer, promoter and so on.

If Pavlik 'makes' 3 million will he get a check for at least a million?

Seems like play money the way we toss around these figures...but it's life changing dough.
I once sold a house which we made a nice profit off of...we rehabbed it,lived in it and sold it.
Our profit was substantial...I remember looking at the check with all the numbers on it.I was kind of in awe...of course it didn't last long as most of it was going toward our next home.

I wounder if that's how Pavlik will feel looking down at his much larger check...awed.

At least they had they're thinking caps on. I like the first fight a lot a whole lot but I don't think the rematch is PPV worthy I won't be buying it.

Well, I remember reading that after the Taylor fight he left his cheque for about $730,000 in the hotel room and they had to cancel it and get him a new cheque. If he was paid 1,000,000 for the fight then he gets to keep about 70% of it. I’m assuming that cheque was his money after he paid everyone but maybe that was only after he paid his promoter and he still had to pay his trainer, cut man so on out of the 730,000?
