Watched boxing when I was little.Started training in muay thai at age 15 1/2.No formal boxing training, but hands are my best weapon in kickboxing. Also watch every boxing pay per view and what ever comes free on hbo bad.
I was born in 1980, so I started by watching Tyson KTFO every mofo in the mid to late 80's as well as Mexican fighters like JCC and Camacho. I picked up boxing about a year and a half ago for condition purposes, but know I want to start fighting amateur hopefully by the end of the year.
my father was an assitant trainer under kenny weldon and my 2nd oldest bro could have went pro but he got his girl pregnant and starting smoking weed and ****ed up. i was always into it but the day I knew that I wanted to box or have a life in boxing was when my older bro took care of me at his girl's house and I was jumping all around. He told me "shut the **** up and sit down, watch this dude fight" so I sat there with tears in my eyes and watches Antoine T Byrd come out. He was in shape smooth, cool ring entrance and I remember thats what I wanted to be. Then comes out this other guy my brother watched. Regular guy and he knocked Antoine Byrd out in the first round. Then I wanted to be like him, and that boxer that I didnt know, who was my child hood star was none other than
ROY JONES JR. I'll never forget I told my bro I wanted to follow in his steps, so i started boxing had a chance to go pro throught the Marine Corp but 9/11 happened and didnt go to the marines cuz i didnt want to go to war, so I stopped boxing. I always wanted to fight Juan Diaz coming up here in Houston because we were the same age but he was more known than me. Never got to but still loved it so now I am a 23 year old up and coming trainer at Savannah's Gym ( home of juan diaz) here in houston texas.
it was when i saw the second DLH vs. chavez fight i knew or heard of both but i was going for julio cesar chavez
i watched it he lost i got in trouble cuz i snuck to my friends house and i was like 7 years old and my parents called the cops to look for me an all that **** and i was just around the block it was like 10 at night an **** it was fun and a great memory
My dad has always loved boxing and I grew up watching it everytime it was on. He knows alot about the sport, so I always enjoy watching fights with him. To this day he is the most accurate at picking fight outcomes out of anyone I have ever heard.
My Daddy, Uncles and brothers were all fighters. From street to amateur/golden gloves, military etc. I always loved to see them in action. I started dating a boxer when I was 15 and from there, my enjoyment of the sport took off. I'm no tomboy so I'd never be interested in becoming a boxer, however I love to watch.
All the gentlemen in my family were very technical. Not brawlers. Very methodical and I have a predilection for fighters of that nature.
