    Boxing needs a Superbowl

I feel that boxing is sliping right now. There are no current mega stars like there use to be in the passed. And that is probably due to the fact that ppl have other souces of entertainment than they did in the past. My idea is that boxing needs a Super Bowl type event once a year consisting of 4 fights in one night all being of main event type status, for example: Klitchsko-Chagaev, Calz-Hopkins, mayweather-cotto, hatton-diaz and have it in a huge stadium and charge like 80$-90$ for ppv. Sure each of those fighters might not make as much as if they had their own events but it would get ppl talking about boxing and I would suspect it would draw ppv buys of atleast 10 mill plus the 90,000 or so ppl in the stands it would be a sick event.

    what do you think?

oh wow, I'm sorry, I said 10 mill ppv buys, which is my estimation who knows if its even close but I'm comparing it to dlh-mayweather that got 2.4 mill buys and think that is a good estimation and with 90$ for each ppv I did the calculation and it came out to 900 million, plus atleast 15mill from the ppl in the stands that is crazy. so each fighter would be making alot more than if they fought in their own ppv. but still, this is all in theory.

There should be some sort of championship tournament at the championship level, especially Welterweight division....

I think they should get boxing back on network television though, and rack up money on advertisements instead of PPV buyers..

A heavyweight title fight used to be the big sport event of the year.

yeah I agree with that, boxing should have a weekly show on one of the 4 major networks to give exposure to young up n' coming boxers who have alot of talent. This would probably help alot for ppv buys as well. Friday nights would be a great night for this, as most of the major networks don't have anything going for them on those nights and ppl could go out to sports bars and such and see those fights.

I mostly have it cuz I use to train in the same gym as st.pierre in montreal and he is the nicest person I've ever met. You will never meet a kinder sole in your life.
