How Good is Featherweight Champ Chris John?

By Cliff Rold - 28-year old Indonesian Featherweight Chris John (41-0-1, 22 KO) needs to get out of Indonesia sooner than later. That doesn’t mean he has to come to the United States, but it couldn’t hurt and his talent deserves the potential wealth that comes with an American audience. [details]

In his only TRUE step up, the judges gave him a gift. He's decent, from what I can tell, at best.

I need to see more of his fights against LIVE challengers before I could say anything further.

It bugs me how people talk about John having that win over JMM.

        lol on paper.

I bet there are some people who say Courtney Burton has that win over Emanuel Augustus. They're just ****faces.

A bold statement, but not one I disagree with.

I totally agree with Rold on the fight with Linares and John. It would seem to be the best fight in the division. Even though the fight might not draw very many in the States or have much interest except for us hardcores, but in Japan where Linares has fought quite often and John has fought as well and close to Indonesia it would make sense.

So is Chris John like the Joe Calzaghe of the featherweight division(not knocking Calzaghe I'm a fan), what i'm saying by that is that he doesn't take huge risks probably because of his management team and won't cross the pond because his manager is afraid. If these boxers believe that there as good as they believe they are, they should find better promoters or hell, promote themselves.

Like I said in the other Chris John thread earlier today: Chris John needs to get the fahk out of Indonesia. Roldy knows his stuff

I can imagine that John's promotional staff is even more scared to let him out of Indonesia, because his fight against Marquez didn't go well... at least that is what I've heard, but to be honest, a lot of those who said John won are from Indonesia, so...

chris john is a champion, but he knows he is no better than marquez, and marquez is no better than barrera and barrera is no better than morales, and morales is no better than Pacman!
