Is Max Kellerman a useless fanboy?

I wish they'd get rid of Kellerman and replace him with Roy Jones or John Scully.

Both have nicer TV personalities and have far more insight into boxing than Max. Jones and Scully have better voices and both have the tact that Kellerman lacks.

Max is (like Kayjay said) just a fanboy of certain boxers.

At first I hated him, but he's growing on me. Hes lowered his tone and isnt yelling all the time. He reminds me of a young merchant.

If he wasn't such a groupie for guys like Pernell, RJJr etc he'd be worthy. But watching the Tito/ ROy fight.. He was ridiculous..

Scully is ****ing great. And I don't say that just because he posts here. He's a boxing encyclopedia and is as articulate as a championship-level fighter is going to get.

But I like him where he is, doing the Classic fights

I think he's pretty decent, he just conrasts merchant's tone so heavily that it makes him look somewhat dooshish. There's not a doubt in my mind that he loves boxing and does his homework.

Kellerman is just as biased as Merchant is for pacquiao and lampley is for vargas. Its hard to be a commentator without having a little bias. They have fav fighteres too. Kellermans absolute love for the sport is something I like about him. He usually never talks down on opponents and is usually stating the truth. He has changed alot of the past year to because he's read all the bad things about him. I give him credit for that. Do we really want announcers telling us how bad a fighter looks at age 39 even though he's putting on a great performance. That would drive me crazy, he gave roy the credit he deserved and then said he probabley couldnt beat calzaghe. That exactly how many of us feel. Against tito, roy looked somewhat like the roy of old, and thats what roy wanted, nothing else.

Roy and Manny are way better, have more technical knowledge of the sport. Max is biased.
