I agree and disagree about this...

      Berto deserves his shot, certainly...

But Mayweather should also get credit for fighting the best guy at 140, when he moved up to 147. Hell, Hatton actually may have deserved to be ranked higher than Berto, if for nothing else, because he has had the deeper career, which makes up for the fact that his ability was basically unknown at 147...

Listen, if Julio Cesar Chavez moved up a weight class from lightweight to junior welterweight with an 80-0 record, don't you think a champion would be fighting the better fight than the previously ranked #1 contender?

I don't know if I worded that right, but it makes sense in my head.

Yeah, Berto is good, at least from what I saw when he fought Estrada. It just would be problematic to fight such a defensive guru so early in his career.

If there is one style that you don't want to run into when you are still young, it seems to be a defensive master.

I mean, ****, a defensive fighter knocked Erik Morales off before the Pacquiao rematch. Hopkins and Wright have been high in the boxing world because of their defense. Mayweather wins his fights because he can hit, and not get hit... defense defense defense.

completely agree floyd is a great defensive fighter who can adapt to any fighters style and makes them fight the type of fight floyd wants.

Im a Floyd fan and I will say the samething I always say. Who Cares? I dont know why you guys worry about petty stuff like this. I bet you that Floyd couldnt care less if he was stripped of his title. Titles are only important when you 1st when them and when your a young guy coming up. Once you get established like Floyd then they dont mean jack after you win them. Its good to win them so you can say that youve had like 6 titles in your career or whatever but then after you win them it doesnt mean nothing if your an established guy.

Thats why I dont get why people make such a big deal about it all the time. If Floyd got stripped right now then what would it mean? Nothing at all. He still will get any fight he wants anytime he wants it and we all know that

By your logic, he can also duck and dodge any fights he deems too risky too, right?

And by your logic, a green Andre Berto is a more risky fight than 43-0 Ricky Hatton, who had "the style to beat Mayweather!!!"?

Floyd Mayweather hasn't fought a mandatory since Jesus Chavez (#1 Contender, WBC Super featherweight) since 2001!
                    Philip N'dou was his mandatory.

I'll say this again. Belts are meaningless when you're the linear champion. I doubt Floyd cares about the belt anymore.

But how about this, why don't Floyd haters want to acknowledge that truth?
