    Berto versus Trabant......

could be a meaningless fight and will prove nothing about berto, if berto wins. If berto loses though, it probably means he's not even a top 20 welter weight.

I'd like to see him in with better competition like Judah, Collazo or Clottey.

I think Berto is being moved the right way. He's still very young and fighting in a tough division. I could see him fighting Judah this summer though if Zab doesn't overprice himself.

It'd be interesting if he called out Williams after the fight since they are on the same card. I doubt it though.

      Here's how I see Berto getting a title shot/title:

      - Margarito beats Cintron for IBF title
      - Margarito Vacates it to go fight Cotto since he doesn't want to deal with Mandatory Clottey
      - Vacant IBF title Joshua Clottey vs Andre Berto.

Something like that. Andre Berto is ranked #2 by the IBF IIRC.

Williams and Berto have the same manager, so don't expect that to happen. But I definitely could see the Berto-Clottey scenario happening though.

It would be interesting if he called him out, but I don't know it would seem fighting Williams wouldn't be a good matchup for him being only 5'8. Your scenario makes sense and Clottey/Berto would be very interesting. With the WW division being so tough I think it's the right path for Berto to be fighting Trabant now and steadily stepping up his competition. By the end of the year or beginning of next year I could see him being in a title fight.

Yeah, you could be right. I think Margarito beats Cintron also. And I personally wouldn't care to see Margarito/Clottey 2.

It's just hard to tell how good Berto is because he hasn't stepped up to even the B level fighters yet. He has some decent wins against some C/C+ fighters but we all know there is a world of difference between A+ and C+.

And in those wins he seemed to have kind of a plodding, flat footed type style. Kind of one dimensional?

I want to see him in a fight with someone who can back him up, turn him and create angles.

yeah Berto/Clottey, Collazo or Judah would answer MANY questions about Berto. Until then it seems like it's anyones guess at the moment?

Something makes me very suspect of Berto. Not to sure exactly what it is yet. He just kind of seems like a plodder and one deminisonal? But i COULD BE WRONG. That is why I want to see him in with stiffer competition......

He needs to work on his defense. He gets tagged way too much and with high volume punchers like Williams or Clottey that could be a problem.

He's also been dropped so his chin could be suspect.
