    If Calzaghe beat Hopkins...

will he be the Ring champion at two different weight classes? After all, it's not set in stone that he'll remain at 175lb, even if he wins. I don't think a Ring champion vacates a title, or am I wrong?

you would be right, to be the champ you have to beat the champ, so technically he could win and then retire as the 168 and 175 king...sounds nice but Hopkins will expose him

I think he vacates it if he leaves but im not sure, but what I do think is that the ring belt may become a major belt in the future as I see Golden Boy promoting it as such and maybe trying to make it "the belt".

It already is "the belt", the ring champion is the true champion, might not always be the best fighter but its a belt you can trace which i think means the most, you cant even vacate it, its always yours untill you get beat or retire.

I'm not sure but I know his is the Super Middleweight champion no matter the result. Frank Warren stated in a press conferance he doesn't have to vacate his belts.

If he beats Hopkins and continues at 175 he has to vacate the 168 pound championship, if he loses he'll still be 168 pound king.
