Chris John Batters Caballero To Retain Title

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - Indonesia's long-reigning World Boxing Association featherweight champion Yohannes Christian John retained his title Saturday, stopping Roinet Caballero of Panama in the seventh round.
Fighting before a packed home crowd at Jakarta's Senayan Indoor Tennis Stadium, 28-year-old John dominated the scheduled 12-round bout after an insignificant contest in the first round.

The victory extended John's record to 40-0-1 while Caballero slipped to 22-8-1.

I wonder whats next for him. How about Jorge Linares?

Linares would beat John. No question about it in my mind. Linares is damn-near ready for anybody.

That being said, he could always fight the winner of Guerrero/Litzau in AMERICA. That'd be nice. Linares IS an option. If any of these guys were willing to move up, he could fight Vazquez, Marquez, the other Caballero, Ponce De Leon. He could rematch the older Marquez, Guzman, Soto.

        He has options.

Based on beating fighters who have below average records? he is very talented but lets not jump to conclusions like people do on these forums after seeing a couple of fights, even Diaz gave him a little trouble in few of the rounds.

Linares would'nt beat JMM even at these points of their careers.

Maybe he wouldn't.. But John didn't beat him either. So that's a moot point.

Sometimes it's not who you do it against, it's just how you do it. The kid has a full arsenal. He throws well upstairs. Well to the body. Great combinations. Great finisher. Has a very solid defense. Can counter-punch. Power in both hands. He's quick and can pick and roll, in terms of punches. and he's JUST about to enter his prime, meaning he'll be EVEN better in about three years. Nonetheless, I still think he's ready for John.

John's NEVER faced someone like Linares. You can make a point that Linares has never faced someone like John. That's fine. And if they ever do face, Linares tears him apart.
