Was the lightweight division really this ****ing bad?

So I was watching Whitaker vs. Pineda tonight on ESPNClassic, and I heard them say something about Pineda that the HBO announcers said about him when he fought Judah. He ****ed his career up by moving from lightweight to welterweight to chase bigger fights, because he gutted all challengers at lightweight.

I don't see anyone with a record worthy of being a challenger on his resume before he fought Mark Breland.

Can someone show me what I'm missing? Obviously something, because both ESPN and HBO said it, and I know they aren't just bull****ting for the hell of it.

Pineda was a lightweight for only a few local fights so yeah, I think it was some kind of a mistake.

Maybe they meant light welterweight? It would be all wrong even then.

Must be a mistake, there were much better lightweights than what he faced, he wasn't there for long anyway.

Must be a mistake, his resume doesn't looked like he gutted much of anyone significantly good before Breland.

Well, this guy at least had the win over Jorge Paez, which was mentioned when Pineda fought Whitaker... I don't know why they didn't do their homework before Pineda fought Judah though, because they talked about how he beat all comers at 135 before he moved up to 147 to fight Mark Breland.

                  Very good!

                  Although Bramble was at 140...

I can't believe both HBO and ESPN got the same guy mixed up.
