Cotto is tailor-made for Mayweather. He is an excellenet fighter, & Floyd's most worthy challenger. Unfortunately, the way he fights would actually make him pretty easy pickins for Floyd. He is just too methodical & predictable in his attack. The boxing ability he showed against Mosley would only get him into deeper trouble if he attempted to use it against Floyd, because it isn't special.

I'm not taking any credit away from Cotto but let's look at the facts; Cotto has not looked good against top opposition. He beat Judah but took alot of straight right hands doing it and Judah is one and done.

He beat Mosley, after Mosely stood toe2toe with Cotto, something Cotto dreamed would happen and still couldn't win deciisively.

Chop Chop gave Cotto all he could handle and some say was cheated from a possibly good fight after it being stopped too quickly.

Cotto is a very good fighter don't get me wrong but in reality he's no where in the league that Floyd is or even DLH for that matter. I say that because I think that DLH even at he age of 34 is one of the best pure boxers left in the sport and I think would give anyone a tough time even at his age right now.

Cotto will have to beat PBF, Margarito, maybe even DLH to be considered the best of his time and those are some tough names to beat.
i agree 100% with this... you have to look at it realistically ... what is cotto better at than floyd?

Cotto really doesnt have anything over floyd, other than maybe power... but I dont think cotto hits harder than oscar, and look how that power helped oscar... power doesnt matter if you cant land it...

Cotto maybe good at cutting off the ring... but cutting off the ring on floyd is a different story... even if he does... floyds latteral movement and shoulder roll just wouldnt allow cotto to work effectively... the only thing cotto has that would bother floyd is a jab... unfortunately... floyd is too smart, and you need more than one punch to beat him an entire 12 rounds... it might work for 2 - 3 rounds like oscars did... but then floyd will chance style and take it away from you...

And since when does floyd need cotto..? cottos got two real good names on his resume... both of which arent anything like they used to be... I agree cotto is a real good fighter... but stepping up to floyd, truly seems to be another level for fighters.. as its showed 39 times...

On another note... how does floyd get discredited for beating hatton because he moved up in weight... when floyds moved up in weight his entire career, including moving up to beat oscar... he didnt let the weight effect him? why did ricky? cuz weight has nothing to do with it... floyds the better fighter... 7 pounds or not.

your analsyis makes sense. but if it were so easy to beat MIGUEL COTTO, lil floy would not have to use BS excuses like "I will never do bidness with Bob Arum again" or "Miguel COTTO is a punching bag."

this flies int he face of logic floy is afraid very afraid of the brute force, confidence, will and intangibles MIGUEL COTTO has to offer. all BS about money and resumes and whatnot are all smokescreens to cover up FEAR flat out FEAR

So please enlighten everyone here and let us know what else does this man has to do or go through to get a shot at "The all mighty Maywheather" huh? he's won all of his fights and has improved his boxing skills ten fold in his last 3-4 fights. Theoretically speaking, Mayweather is entitled to fight Cotto, they are both in the same division, they are both champs and are undefeated. Obviously May would never agree on a fight with Cotto, except maybe if he were to loose in one of his upcoming fights, cherry picking him just like always does with all of his past opponents. I will never deny Mayweather's talent and boxing skills, the guy is probably the best of our era, but a true fighter? hell no, I don't give him any respect in that department, and I can't fathom anyone else giving him any respect as a true warrior.
