Calzaghe and the move to light-heavy!

with calzaghe moving up in weight i have a few questions id like your opinion on :

    1. with the move up in weight do you reckon joe's power might increase? he often gets accused of being a slapper which i agree with to some extent, hes definetly not the hardest puncher in boxing but it seems he's trying to protect his wrist which was broken a few years ago.

    2. Also, is there not a way in which his wrists can be wrapped in order for them to be more secure? or would this be an illegal wrapping? we all know hopkins likes to check these things ( felix trinidad fiasco )

    3. Who thinks he will slow considerably? its not that big a step up for calzaghe, who looks a natural light heavy anyway, but its gonna have some sort of affect

Honestly, I think his power will decrease a little when he moves up, but his speed will remain the about the same which will be OK for him because he's a fighter than relies on speed more than power anyway.

He's going to have a bit more power back and he's going to be just as fast. I don't expect a huge difference. It's a small move for him at this point

        If P= Power M = Mass and S = Speed, I believe P = M x S2

So if his speed is unaffected, his power should be greater, unless you were referring to a more subjective measure of power i.e. comparative to other light heavyweights?

Any increase will have to be mananged anyway, because of his hands (unless he can put 2lbs of fat on each set of knuckles lol)

I don't think the weight change will have a noticeable effect. He doesn't need the power at this point anyway. No one is getting hurt in Hopkins/Calzaghe. Calzaghe, in 2008, is flat out the better boxer.

2 lbs of weight on the knuckles? That is an enormous amount of weight. 2 lbs?

It's a thought though, how much damage could a hard hitting pro do with a 2lb weight in each glove?.....Didn't that happen to an up and coming North American fighter?? His dad was his trainer and he grabbed the opponents gloves at the end of the match to prove it can't remember the guy's name
