Put Yourselfs In Floyd Mayweather's Shoes

If you had the chance to fight a guy you've already beaten for 20million while taking the entire year off, wouldn't you do it?

The old time fighters from the 60's didn't fight evey week because they wanted to, they're not warriors because they chose to be. They did it because they needed the paycheck. Less promotion, less money and more fighting back in those days.....AND the fat promoters are the only ones who made any serious $$$$. The fighters wound up retired with health problems and still broke after 200+ professional fights. Oh yea the blood thirsty fans had a blast too watching two pubs knock each other around until somebody is carried out on a strecher.

    Times have changed

If I were a fighter in today's world I would do the exact same thing. Do what I have to in the ring to get myself into a position where I can make alot of money in each and every fight and take it easy after that.

Sure the fans suffer....but I'm asking you to think from a Boxer's perspective not from a fan's point of view.........Wouldn't you be greedy and looks for the best and easiest payday if you had a choice.

It's not like Mayweather is gonna go down as The Greatest of All times.......no matter who he beats, the old time historians are never gonna give him that spot. Yes the guy could fight Cotto BUT he is rubbing it in the face of everybody who's trying to tell him what to do by doing what he wants to do. I like that.....wouldn't have it any other way myself.

exactly, we're not PBF. We're fans. We have the right to criticize him as much as he has a right to make his bank account bigger.

This is role play my boy. Time to thinks from a fighters point of view.

If you turned pro today, how would you handle your career?

But if you can't do that, as a fan you need to just forget about it and look the other way. If he's not giving you what you want, whatever that maybe....just focus on other fighters and stop being obsessed with him.

Look, If you dont care to watch quality fighters make quality fights, then thats on you. Its MORE than understandable for Boxing fans to expect the best to fight the best. I understand why Floyd is doing it, but I dont RESPECT it. You can respect it all you want if thats the kind of fan you are. I am a Boxing fan, Business fan. If I wanted to suck the nuts of a brilliant business man, I'd dedicate a website to Bill Gates or Jay Z.

It's not the kind of fan I am. I was speaking from a fighters point of view. What IF I Vladimir were a professional fighter.....what would I do? Not Vlad the boxing fan...get it.

Haha, you just dont get it. You can justify Floyd's decision all you want. I already said I understand it and I've said I dont respect it. But guess what, you and I arent fighters. You MAKING this thread proves what kind of "fan" you are. NO ONE is debating WHY he is taking this fight. Its obvious why. But "fans" like you shouldnt get your feelings hurt when the criticism arises.

I'm not hurt. I have a amateur boxing license although I haven't put it to use. Boxing is a hard sport, business wise even more so. Some fightes have trouble just landing fights, forget about getting a payday. I know fighters who turned pro and are on a 2 year layoff because they have no management and no promoter so they can't land any fights.

You get into a position that floyd is in and you cash in and fill up your bank account..........remember there is no retirement plan for fighters.

It's just business........it's not like these fighters take anything personally like most of you boxing dimwits do in here all day. It's all money, even Margarito wanted to be like floyd but he can't. He wanted to duck Williams but he couldn't once he realized that he needs his WBO belt.

Floyd ownes the WBC and tells them what to do while Margarito listens to the WBO. Big difference.

Everytime I criticize Floyd using actual logic I get called a hater. Floyd fans need to deal with the criticism and not blindly follow & defend Floyd no matter what. The truth is (to all Floyd fans) if Floyd knew you hed probably hate you.

He fights for money and not for glory or to become a boxing legend.
