Oscar will be back with Mayweather Sr., Mayweather Sr. taught Mayweather Jr. how to fight. There has to be things Floyd Sr. can teach Oscar about Floyd Jr. He knows him well(obviously). Oscar already faught him once so he can look back at what mistakes he made. And lets keep in mind that Oscar didn't do that bad against Floyd. Mayweather did not dominate Oscar. Oscar was effective with his jab, and then stopped throwing it. I honestly believe De La Hoya could beat Mayweather if he prepares properly and looks at the mistakes he made last time. If he doesn't, then Mayweather will decision him once again.
I Think Oscar Has A Good Chance In The Rematch...

Another one bites the dust. This is the type of audience Goldenboy Promotions is trying to hook into buying all the PPV's. And once the fight is over, they will come in here the next day bitching and moaning about the results.Oscar will be back with Mayweather Sr., Mayweather Sr. taught Mayweather Jr. how to fight. Its Oscar's fault if he doesn't do what he should do...he has to have stamina down the stretch. Theres ways he can get that stamina(or atleast more stamina). If he doesn't have it, he didn't train properly. And if Oscar does somthing against Floyd that works, you don't stop doing it!! lol.Comment

Floyd by even more wide of a decision. He'll get used to the jab this time. He was a little thrown off and I think Oscar changes his style more or less and tries more to box then go to the body.
He'll try to establish his jab, which I think Floyd would quickly counter with a jab to Oscar's body or maybe an overhand right to counter. I see Floyd being in the pocket for just a bit more then he did last time, but still advoiding Oscar. Not enough to get bullied into the ropes again. I think he learned that mistake with him last time and Hatton to somewhat extent.Comment

I agree with you.Oscar will be back with Mayweather Sr., Mayweather Sr. taught Mayweather Jr. how to fight. The top 3 errors in the fight for oscar (in my opinion) were:
1. Didnt use the jab as the fight carried on.
2. His lack of endurance/stamina from about the 8th round on.
3. he went from using effective pressure (aka. beating up mayweather's body while tied up; using his jab and walking forward forcing mayweather to fight, cutting off the ring; etc.) to basically just rushing forward and using unneccessary energy to force the fight while mayweather would jab and move out of the ropes; etc.
Oscar comes back with Floyd Sr. (if he does) then Oscar does have a slightly better chance than he did last may. Floyd Sr. is mayweather jr's father...who trained him in his amatuer days and even all the way up until he was in jail where floyd jr's uncle (his brother) stepped in.
So all the basics of floyd jr's style and techniques came from his father. it was pressed on mayweather young in his career and now that he's an elite fighter (using those basic tactics taught by his father) he STILL fights that way.
its muscle memory and the only way mayweather knows how to fight.
so all the habits and tendencys will still be there.
floyd sr knows his son better than any trainer (with uncle roger a close second) so who better to help train a fighter to defeat floyd jr than his own father who trained him for quite awhile???
right?
exactly.
With floyd sr in oscar's corner i will expect floyd sr. to press oscar to use the jab, go to the body early and often (even more often than in the first fight), and help oscar in pressuring mayweather, help him cut off the ring better than he did last time; etc.
that should be oscar's basic gameplan.
1. go to the body
2. cut off the ring more effectively and pressure more effectively (to not waste too much of than valuable stamina oscar tends to lack down the stretch of fights this late in his career)
3. use the jab. dont do ANYTHING without the jab. use it coming in...use it coming out.
if oscar does these things he may very well win the fight in yet another close decision.
For mayweather he needs to use good defense (as he did last time) and not allow oscar to land that left hook. a good flush de la hoya hook may put mayweather down for at least a knockdown. de la hoya naturally is the bigger fighter and oscar needs to fight like one. mayweather needs to fight as the smaller fighter and use that speed of his.
mayweather's defense and speed will be his biggest keys to victory in the fight.
mayweather will also need to match de la hoya's punch output. de la hoya won many rounds in their last fight based on the fact mayweather would use 35 punches a round (not land...just what he'd use) and de la hoya would punch 15+ more times a round). he wasnt outlanding mayweather but making a strong impression on the judges by his work ethic. mayweather needs to pick up the pace with the punches...
its mayweather's bread and butter.
i expect another close fight and to be honest it could go either way if both fighters capitalize on their mistakes from the last fight.
i would exect another controversial split decision for either man. cant make a pick yet.Comment

Like I said, I think Mayweather would focus specifically on the jab. He should get a sparring partner like Vernon Forrest to help just stick the jab out there. Make him fight a pressure kind of fight in sparring and make him use the jab all the time.
I don't see the jab being as big of a problem this time since he's used to it.Comment

That would be a good idea. I like that idea, Vernon Forrest would be a great person for Floyd to spar with.Like I said, I think Mayweather would focus specifically on the jab. You create a thread defending Floyd for taking this fight and are constantly coming to his rescue. But now you are belittling someone who will potentially buy the PPV for the fight?Comment
