But there are some cases where it might be that someone else in the division is actually viewed as "The King" even though they didn't beat the linear champion.
Some cases may be:
Casamayor arguably losing his last match, and Juan Diaz going on a scavenger hunt collecting ABC belts.
Hopkins being old and not fight LHWs... Dawson is viewed as young and having limitless potential, so it might be that it is viewed that Dawson is the best right now.
Mayweather not fighting the other top contenders in the division have led some to believe that Cotto is the real king at 147.

)... Dawson is viewed as the best ABC champion of the bunch, and even though he isn't viewed as by far the best champion in the division, I don't think Hopkins is getting enough credit to be viewed as "The Man".
