    Is Zab the new Vargas?

I never understood why Vargas got so many big fights, it seemed like no matter how badly he lost it didnt matter, a few months later hed be in a PPV fight. Now that hes done it seems like Zab is inheriting his legacy, except that he is more competative (for a few rounds) and is more talented..what do you think? Is he done or gonna be the Vargas for a few more years?

Probably won't be on PPV again unless he wins a fight.

He is a tune-up for Margarito it looks like, which will be on WCB.

Vargas is interesting, but he had much more heart then Zab
I say that because Vargas was talented but let it go to waste cause he was fat. Zab is talented but let it go to waste for no damn reason.

Vargas also acually beat some champs like Winky Wright and a prime Ike quarty while Zab's biggest win was Cory Spinks who he already lost to.

Finally, Vargas lost a few times but Zab's been beaten by ****ing Baldomir, no disrespect to Baldomir but was no where near Zabs level

i gotta agree with the guy above, vargas beat a man not too many boxers can claim victory against(Winky), and has at least looked like a man who wanted to win during some of his losses(Trinidad, Mayorga). The same cannot be said for Zab in some of his fights.

Vargas was awesome for a while, lots of heart. Give me a Vargas every single time over a De La Hoya.

No, he isn't what a dumbass thread. Zab has been the undisputed welterweight champion fo the world and won many world titles. He has fought the best in the division and not to mention hes about to clean up at 147 and 140.

It's obvious you havent been watching boxing long if you have to ask what was the big deal with vargas. He was the buzz of boxing at one time. Dont feel like explaing much here but i did there is a little convo bout vargas in this thread just opened today.

Andrew Golota, after quitting against Tyson, beat Bryan Nix and Terrence Lewis to "earn" a shot at the IBF title, which he failed to win vs. Chris Byrd. So he immediately gets a shot at John Ruiz's WBA title which he fails in, and then immediately gets a shot at Lamon Brewster's WBO title which he fails in that fight as well.

I'd say Golota's name is as appropriate as Vargas's. Difference is, Vargas has some big-time wins on his resume.
