Ok, this is if anybody cares about a legit Titleholder. If you don't care about the Title, than it really doesn't matter.


I say this: a "Champion" should have to defend his title at least once a year against the #1 in his division. I think it is fair considering a Championship happens in other sports once a year, unless we count Olympics and World Cup...then it doesn't work, but come on, that way is to much. It's bad enough fighters like Dempsey held the title for 3 years without fighting which is why having more than one title at this point isn't all to bad, but the system should be fixed.


For $$$ problems: If the contract doesn't get made because the #1 guy doesn't like his salary, then...??

I don't know, maybe the split percentage method can be worked out by some legit judge. You get points for the Title, and your previous money gets taking into consideration. You get a base salary until the all the numbers are in for the fight.

Mayweather won the belt in November of 06. By the time the rematch rolls around it'll be September of 2008. So that means in that time since winning the belt he'd be 1-0 against a guy who isnt a natural Welterweight.

So yeah he should be stripped of his Welterweight status if this goes on, absolutely.

Another guy, Hatton is considered "thee guy" at 140 and since beating Tszyu he's only beaten Urango, Maussa, and Castillo. You should be forced to fight the top guy eventually in order to keep that status imo.
