    May be premature talk...

But Pavlik is a monster and would of competed at any era.

I mean he is a little slow and does not have much flair but he is a monster. Once he gets into that rythym he is tough to fight. Puts his opponents in a lull and then just batters them too submission.

    Fun to watch.

This is totally irrelevant, but does anyone else find is hilarious that after being beaten by Pavlik Taylor is employing some of Kelly's training techniques now for the rematch? Like the sledgehammer routine on the tire?

He must've watched the "Countdown" for the first one after being KO'd and been like "dat's what Im'a do!".

.....lol lol. That is pretty funny. That is pretty humbling I must admit. I personally feel that is why Pavlik is so freakin' strong in the clinches. It's all functional strength.

It's old school but it sure as hell works. I wonder how he cuts weight. Probably old school as well. Starves himself.

No. As a fighter, why wouldnt you want to try anything that could possibly improve your game? And MMA fighters have been using the sledge hammer routine for ages.

I never said Pavlik invented the technique. But he is the only boxer who employs it, it's typically a routine strictly for the MMA crowd. Pavlik trains with a lot of unorthodoz routines, I think that's where he draws his strength from. I just find it hilarious that Jermain is employing it now.

Well, I've seen footage of Mexican fighters doing the same and even choppin trees down. I really find it sad that people talk **** about Jermain though. He has always been genuine and not afraid to fight anyone.

Hagler used to chop wood and flip tires. Do you research dude. It's nothing new.

Chopping wood is a routine method though. I can't count the number of guys I've seen do that. I was talking more along the lines of Kelly's training with the stuff he does with firehoses.

For me, I never liked the kid. I think he got handed an awful lot by HBO without having to work as hard for it. When Hopkins was leaving the Middleweight division, they reigned in Taylor, set him up against Edouard, and then passed him off as an instant "savior" of the middleweight division.

I don't think Taylor beat Hopkins the first time out, but I do think he did the second time around. But the issue for me was the Champion gets the benefit of the doubt in close rounds, and in that fight anything even mildly close was scored for Taylor.

Couple that with his string of defenses in which I thought he lost to Wright, and beat up on little men Spinks and Ouma. I don't see him as a true Champion and I probably never will.

Kelly Pavlik is a Champion to me, he was never given anything by HBO. HBO wanted Miranda to win to set up Miranda/Taylor. But then when Pavlik killed him like he said he would, HBO became instant fans despite having overlooked him for years.

Anyways, that's my peace, and you have the right to have yours as well. We can disagree peacefully.
