Who's the bigger man, DLH or Mosley?

De La Hoya height: 5'10'' 1/2
    Reach: 73''

    Mosley: 5'9''
    Reach: 74''

    at their first fight

DLH was 146 1/2 @ the weigh in
Mosley was 147 @ the weigh in
(I couldn't get the stats for the second)

DLH started his career @ Super Featherweight.
    Mosley @ Lightweight.

Most people would suggest that De La Hoya is the bigger man between the two, however I don't think there is much of a size difference the only one being that De La Hoya has stayed mostly inactive getting fat and Mosley is a gym rat who has maintained his weight.

I don't see Oscar De La Hoya as having grown into a middleweight, more like having ate his way and gotten out of shape into it. When you really look at it Mayweather fought a fat welterweight and Cotto fought Mosley who not only has stayed in better shape but been more active even though he is little over a year older.

So how is it that Mayweather deserves all the credit in the world for beating DLH but Cotto deserved none for Mosley?

I don't even think Oscar can make 147 anymore and Shane can still make the weight with ease. Oscar started lower than he should have.

      De La Hoya easy...

When it comes to being bigger and stronger... Oscar was the one who was able to be competitive at 160, and he was able to knock out name opponents at 154... He was even able to knock Fernando Vargas out in his prime.

Could just be that Mosley was lazy and didn't want to really try hard to make the lower weights. His speed was enough to carry him. Think about it though... who was able to effectively move up higher in the divisions? Was Mosley really effective at 154? A super controversial decision against De La Hoya, losses to Wright (twice), a NC with Raul Marquez, a convincing win over a shot Vargas, preceeded by a razor thin win over a shot Vargas.

De La Hoya won a title (controversially) at 160, but was able to do some good work at 154. He was also able to keep his strength. That's why I believe De La Hoya was the bigger man.

Because he is so out of shape. If he stayed in the gym like Mosley even when he ain't fighting I would say he probably would. 2-3 months isn't enough to get down and readjust and stay comfortable.

                  I know that.

Maybe it was merely opponent choice, but Mosley didn't look especially impressive at 154. His first fight with Vargas is more of a concern than anything IMO.

The reason why no one gives him credit for beating a "bigger man" was because Cotto is pretty big himself. He probably has to lose more weight then Mosley too come into 147.

While Floyd pretty much losses 2 pounds to come into 147 and had to gain pounds to come into 154. De La Hoya is a lot stronger then Mosley too.

However, Cotto deserves a ****load of credit for beating Mosley and he gets it. De La Hoya is definietly the bigger man though.

I'd say the win is pretty equal and both of them deserve credit. Maybe moreso Cotto, since that got his name out there. Though Floyd beat Oscar with all the advantages going to Oscar. That and the fact Cotto-Mosley was A LOT closer then De La Hoya-Mayweather.
