I'm pretty sure it's official, unless Hopkins hasn't signed on to the fight yet.

I would sooner if Joe fought Jones in Britain.

With the home judges (i.e., Jerry Roth) and refs (perhaps Cortez) in Las Vegas, Joe could be robbed and Hopkins may get away with deliberate head butts, rabbit punches and low blows.

Jones vs. Calzaghe would fill the stadium in Wales and make plenty of money as a PPV. The two best fighters of the past fifteen years would finally face each other...

Yeah I saw the article and thought **** its signed, but whenyou read it , it says nothing more than we've already been promised. Typical Frank Warren, makes you wonder what Joe could have done with an American promoter?? He could have been huge, much earlier, according to my wife and her friends, he's apparently cute too Calzaghe Kessler was the first fight some of them saw and I don't think they were concentrating on the boxing!!!lol

hopkins has agreed and is waiting for joe to sign. GBP hasn't heard back from either joe or warren, so that is tying things up.

and as of today on fight news dot com, warren said that they haven't announced anything and warren also told people of the UK to not book flights until they announce the fight..........why??? because if roy jones wins over tito they aren't going to take the fight with hopkins, they're going to go after jones jr, at least that is my opinion, and that is what it looks like to me from all that has been reported on the topic, as well as their actions of not having signed the fight yet and the long delay.

and although you are right about filling up the MEN stadium in cardiff, which joe could do fighting guys like manfredo jr again, he still isnt leaving his comfort zone, which would make him a liar for saying that he wants to fight in the US.

now, as for the refereeing being bias, calzaghe has had favorable refereeing his whole career from the hometown judges and the refs.
cortez is a ****ty ref, at least in the last few years, he did a horrible job in the mayweather-hatton fight, he let floyd use his forearms and elbows and turn his back the whole fight and wouldn't let any inside fighting take place. now i'm not saying that the outcome would've been different but what i am saying is that he injected himself in the fight too much and he made it to where hatton was fighting two people in the ring. ****ty job...........
which leads to my next retort, hopkins can and likes to fight inside, same with calzaghe, so cortez with his recent track record wouldn't be a good ref for their fight. they should use Steve Smoger, he's the best right now.
and also, in case you haven't seen a calzaghe fight, which by your comments on hopkins being a dirty fighter, i would be so inclined to think that you haven't, calzaghe is just as dirty of a fighter as hopkins, if not dirtier. calzaghe holds and hits, hits on the break, hits low, rabbit punching is one of his trademark punches, as well as most UK fighters. there is no denying that hopkins is a rough and tumble fighter, he is, but same with calzaghe, there is no difference between the two when it comes to them dirtying it up in the ring.

when i went to see calzaghe-kessler in cardiff, the whole night the refs were letting rabbit punches go on all night long, it was actually disgusting to watch it go uncalled and to see that it is a normal practice over there, only when they had the american ref mike ortega did a rabbit punch get called out THE WHOLE NIGHT!!!! i watched about 10+ fights there that night and never saw one foul called on a rabbit punch until an american ref called it in the calzaghe fight, against calzaghe, and i'm sure he would've called it on kessler had kessler fought like that.

just to clarify a few things for you guys...............

This makes a mockery of boxing, a 44-year-old who would have fought three times in three years, against a 36-year-old who would have fought three times in three years...

Would rather see Calzaghe face Dawson or prestigious Lonsdale belt-holder & prestigious WBC #1 contender Carl 'Cobra' Froch
