Boxing needs to have a happy medium

between over the hill meaningless superstar fights and showcase bouts for young prospects to fight guys they are supposed to beat handily. We need more bouts like Marquez vs Vasquez and Taylor vs Pavlik etc.

I love boxing, it is the only sport I follow, but I dont understand why boxing isnt set up in an elimination style tournament, its like the rankings are just for fan reference and fighters just fight whoever they feel like it.

Everything you said is true. The bad news is there isn't jack**** we can do about it. Boxing is the Wild West of sports.
