Just watched the On-Demands (Tito-Vargas; Jones-Ruiz) and loved his commentary. He's biased, sure, but not unreasonably so. He makes more insightful remarks that Len, not that such is at all difficult, but most importantly he puts Lamps and Larry in their places. No one else does that
Am I the only one who misses Big George on HBO?

I'd much rather hear someone like George that actually knows what the hell he's talking about than some guy who never wore a jockstrap in his like pontificating about boxing.Comment

i miss george and his pronunciation of words
like the "later rounds"
he would said it (sounds like) "the LATTER rounds"Comment

It got kind of annoying listening to him go on and on and on about how a puncher, who was clearly getting outclassed, and beaten to a pulp, was still in the fight, and this is the kind of fight he wants.
He had such an overwhelming bias towards punchers and pressure fighters it was ridiculous.Comment

I miss Jones. He added a cool touch to things, making the technical game a lot more exciting.
However Foreman would make dramatic fights more...well...dramatic. Like when Jones landed that right hand on Ruiz "OOOOOOOOOO. Big right hand there."
Manny and Max are also pretty good. Kevin Kelly and Lennox lewis were pretty bad though.Comment

George would contradict himself during the course of a fight and sometime reveal his true belligerent nature. But he was still better than the self serving Roy Jones. That being said, they both sometimes offered some great insights that only a veteran boxer can.Comment

I think he was better than Max Kellerman. And every now and then he would say something funny. Not like Max: "There's a super fight breaking out in this superfight." You know that motherf'er was saving that for months.
Or when Max wasted time during Kessler-Andrade comparing it to Rocky IV.Comment
