Not healthy, but it is the reason they both were involved in an FOTY!
True, but heavies are different. 95% of heavies have to engage at some point. Even Lewis had to show some real stones against big punchers like Mercer, Ruddock, and Morrison...and the list goes on.

He did engage more then usual though. Probably because of his unique fighting style. He was one of the best infighters of all time at heavy and he was 6'5''. His frame wanted him to stay outside but his skill and tempermant forced him inside.

One of my faves. He was kind of a prick though. (smilie)

I would say Holyfield-Tyson out of the ones Ive seen...not at all a bad fight, but I dont think it was even close to as good as MAB-Kennedy McKinney, which I remember being the same year. for that reason alone, I would say Tyson-Holyfield did not deserve FOTY award.

Honorable mention goes to Quiroga vs. Anifowoshe and Gatti vs. Ruelas.
I actully enjoyed Gatti vs Ruelas it was kinda nice comeback for Gatti

One-sided fights with a knockout to end things usually don't make for the best fights IMO. It's better when they are pretty competitive throughout.

lol I re watched Holy/Tyson and it was ****ing exciting. I'm not trying to contrast you people's opinions.......but seriously.

I think I went in with some sort of previous Tyson bias and didn't want to see him get beat down last time I watched it. But man, they went toe to ****ing toe and were just wailing on each other. Holy's chin is made of space age steel.

Anyways, Tapia/Ayala gets my vote because it was a ****ing robbery.

I think the problem with Holyfield-Tyson is that heavyweights' workrate is pretty terrible compared to other weight classes. P4P, it was a great fight, but heavyweights are generally just more boring to me.

Bowe-Holyfield actually might be the most exciting fight ever, because those heavyweights seriously performed like warring flyweights with how many punches they threw.

                    The first one?

The second one has been pretty clearly considered a robbery, but the first one was pretty close. The first one was the FOTY by the way.

I thought both were equally as bad. Judging wise.

Great fights nonetheless........it's tough seeing your guy lose though. Especially given the circumstances preceding the fight.
