Then why the heck does he have to take a shot at Cotto like that(he implied Cotto was the prince and he was the king and that the king would always be bigger) if he isn't jealous or feels like Cotto has taken the spotlight from him.
Right now Cotto is bigger than Trinidad here in PR, the buzz for this fight is not like it used to be for his fights, Trinidad took a beating in his last fight and hasn't fought in a long time, most people are not interested in paying money to see him fight until he proves he has something left.
If he beats Jones then he'll get his fans back but right now he's 2nd to Cotto.Comment

I don't buy it. Of course cotto is hot right now and the talk of the town. Tito's time has passed. Cotto's resume isn't 1/4 of tito's at this point. Your comparing cotto to the tito of now. When tito was at his prime he was one of boxing child! he could sell out any arena. and as you can see the ppv buys for cotto vs mosley were garbage and mosley is a huge name. Tito would of never had a ppv that low in buys. if you compare puerto rico and cotto's buzz right now it's nothing compared to tito and his buzz in his prime. Tito is the man in puerto rico no matter how much you dont want to admit it he is. Im sure tito was a big inspiration for cotto. Cotto is big but he doesn't have a big following. I never said Cotto would be bigger than Tito because he doesn't have the personality, I just said Tito got jealous of all the attention Cotto was getting and he decided to comeback to try and regain his throne.
That's Tito's problem and why he keeps coming back, he can't be away from the spotlight because he fears people will forget about him with time.Comment

The competition cotto faced to get the belt at 140 and 147 are not comparable to the competition tito faced. regardless of weight tito beat the better opponents by far. and your theory can works against cotto as well since he has not beaten "the man" floyd at 147. You can't compare cotto's resume with tito's greatness. I can't believe someone would even argue that cotto is bigger then tito in puerto rico or that at the end of both their careers people will be saying cotto was the better fighter. How are you sure of that?? People come back from retirement in all sports. But now because cotto is around tito is jealous and wants to fight again? If he was really that jealous of cotto, dont you think tito would call him out for a fight at a catch weight? I'm not sure cotto could even get passed his fellow puerto rican boxer kermit cintron. Cotto's name is out there because of arum and his publicity stunts. Tito is coming back for a big payday. It's hard to turn down the millions don king offered. Don't put tito down and say he's doing it because he's jealous of cotto, because i doubt that is the real reason. Money talks you cotto fans should know that by now.Comment
