Who is Yury Nuzhnenko and does Cotto have to fight him?

I just looked at the WBA website and it looks like Yury Nuzhnenko, 27-0 (13) is the interim champ at 147.

Will Miguel Cotto have to fight this guy to keep his WBA belt?

If so, how is he getting away with fighting Gomez?

have you learned anything? the promoter pays the organization some good money(the only reason unknowns are placed so high), and then you can figth whoever you want, i mean look at the WBCs list of contender for FLoyd Mayweathers belt

1 .- Andre Berto (US) NABF -are you ****tin me? who the **** has he beaten?
2 .- Miguel Rodriguez (Mexico) -dont even know who this is
3 .- Ricky Hatton (GB) -the name says it all
4 .- Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (Mexico) -okay.....
5 .- Jackson Osei Bonsu (Belgium) EBU -like money may will fight him next
6 .- Isaac Hlatshwayo (South Africa) -nope
7 .- Joaquin Zamora (Mexico) USNBC -who?
    8 .- Luis Collazo (US) -same ****
    9 .- Luis Fernando Uribe (Mexico) - da ****?
10 .- Bongani Mwelase (South Africa) -da ****?

see how many unkowns are placed so high, all you gotta do is pay sanctioning fees and youre in, you even get to pick the number, yet a challenger from another division can come in and get the title shot, anyway i know ive drifted from your question but the point is all this organiozations are full of **** (and money) and they are only to be the politics of the sport, so therefore it dont matter

Are you serious? That is one crazy top 10 of contenders

I was just talking about the interim champ thing. I know at Heavyweight, Sam Peter became the interim champ for Maskaev's belt and then became the mandatory for Maskaev if he wanted to keep his belt. I was wondering if it would be the same for Cotto, because if it was that would suck.

Isaac Hlatshwayo is a pretty decent fighter, but thought he was Lightweight.

Luis Collazo is justified top contender & former champion who I think would provide a good test for Mayweather against a legitimate Welterweight, with hand & footspeed not too far off Mayweather's, as well as a good chin.

Andre Berto is a top up & comer, but still a little short on top level experience.
Would have him cracking the top 10 rankings, but not #1.

Even more the case with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Ricky Hatton's a Junior-Welter, but still has fought 2 of the best Welter's for 1-1, so deserves to be ranked.

        ----

RE: Yury Nuzhnenko, there's atleast 1 vid of his on YouTube - decent fighter, but a little lacking in power, especially considering his style.

Any of the top 5 handle him pretty easily.
Cotto or Margarito knock him out by the mid-rounds, maybe a little longer with Williams who doesn't hit as hard.

Cotto may have to fight him, but not for a while. Frederick Klose was his mandatory and was going towardsa a fight with Cotto probably for Cotto's next fight but Klose recently lost to Nuzhnenko and now Nuzhnenko is the mandatory and I think Cotto has a while now. Probably like a year.
