    What goes first?

How many times have you we heard the saying, " His better days are behind him? "

What is the first qualities a fighter loses as he gets older? Could it be the legs, or possibly the stamina, or could it be the timing and reflexes?

This question arrises very often when we see fighters past their prime still trying to compete with the fresh fish.

In my opinion the timing and the reflexes are the first to go.
A boxer can still continue t get in great physical condition but I think the reflexes and timing become slower with time and age.

    What do you guys think?

Yeah reflexes and timing. For instance, Roy Jones Jr still has handspeed and power, but his reflexes to avoid punches and his timing to land that power on the button are pretty much gone.

The traditions of boxing say the first thing to go is the legs and the last thing is the power. Actually the first thing to go is the money from too much drinking and screwing. That is the reason boxers get so old so fast.

Recovery, or "wind" as it is better known by it's slang term.

Basically, the older you get the quicker you tire out and the longer it takes to get your "second wind". This leads to slower reflects, which then leads to having less speed, sloppy technique (which hurts power) and poor defense.
