Mayweather Sr. Receives Feeler, Will Train De La Hoya To Beat Floyd Jr.

"Floyd Mayweather Sr. should be my trainer until the day I retire," De La Hoya said. "I don't think there is any reason to change trainers. He gets me going and he gets me motivated. But I am prepared if he says no to me. I am prepared to move on and get somebody else. That somebody else, though, I am not sure who it is." [details]

DLH would lose even with Sr. in his corner, Sr. can make it a closer fight though.

And what exactly did he do as a pro except lose to an up and coming SRL?

will there are many good coachs that never has a presitgous pro career.

what does Enzo Calzaghe has? What doesn Emanuel Steward has? What does Buddy McGirt has? and much much more could be mentioned and even Freddie Roach too.

Anyway I dont think it going to happen because Floyd sr is still the father of Floyd jr and there is some fatherly feeling so it a conflict of interst. as much as Oscar really want a rematch it better for him to reply at Arum and beat Cotto as his legacy because He could KO Cotto

I understand what you're saying. It's just he insulted Roach's pro career when he didn't do nothing either.

Buddy McGirt was WBC Welterweight champion and was considered one of the better welterweights in the mid 90's.

Rumour has it that Oscar De La Hoya may be training with Floyd in the lead up to the fight.

ODLH: 'In order to get the fight choreographed to perfection we probably will train together, but the bitterness is still there'

'Chances are we'll aim for a KO in round 7 or 8, Floyd would prefer me to come from behind, so we may even see the dive as late as 9'

When told this dive could turn out as poor as the Hopkins dive ODLH had this:

'Haha, well make no mistake, Money is all class when it comes to this sort of thing, expect a free flowing fluent combo from myself then an epic struggle from Floyd as he tries his very best to get up, only to tumble to the mat at the 8 count'

Personally I can't wait, sounds like an all action fight.

I agree. If there's a fighters Oscar can't beat right now in his career it is Floyd. The Oscar who fought Floyd May 5th 07 would have beat Cotto, Williams and Citron easly at 154.

well Oscar wants to secure his legacy and win from a person he lost is better for Oscar then a win over a person who he never lost to.

It like redemption for himself as long as he could make the fight look attractive to the general public and make some more money then it okay for him. and if he wins people will remeber him the guy who gave the p4p undeafted Floyd Mayweather his first L.
