To honestly say that roy jones moving up from 154 to fight a prime 28 year old Bernard Hopkins (22-1-0) at the 22nd fight of his career for the vacant ibf middleweight title is not a "challenge"?... To say then 5 fights later he moved up yet again to 168 pounds to fight the ibf super middlweight champion and pound for pound best at the time with a 44-0-2 record, and literally toy with him...knocking him down in the 3rd... is not a "challenge"?... To say then 7 fights later he moved up in weight, again... for the 175 pound light heavyweight WBC light interim title, against a proven 49-3-1 mike mccallum, and knock him down in the 10th? and say thats not a challenge? and then the next fight we have montell griffin, someone who finally can box with roy jones... someone who gave him resistance, got DQ... gave an immediate rematch and KOed him the 1st round, wasnt any kind of challenge? then to collect all the belts... with absolutely no problems... wasnt any kind of challenge? not a little bit... and then to go and win the heavyweight title.. coming from 154 pounds, to face a 226 lb fighter, and i dont care how good you think john ruiz is....or how bad... the weight is the equalizer in this fight...193lb vs 226lb SERIOUS difference.... and say THATS not a challenge? then to get knocked out twice in a row, and to slowly try to restore your great career at 39 years old... isnt a challenge?

And how come nobody looks at what really happened when roy got knocked out... he just fell off the prime hill? just in one fight? for no apparent reason? to go from one of the best performances in your life against john ruiz, a solid heavyweight on March 1st, 2003... take FLUSH, HARD, CONSECUTIVE, right hands in the first round.... See video below, 3:12 into the video...

So he takes FLUSH right hands to the face that stumbles him, from a 226 pound john ruiz who knocked down holyfield...and immediately comes back with a right hand.... he went from THAT... to 8 months later fighting Antonio Tarver on November, 08, 2003... (a lot of people say he should have retired after the ruiz fight this is why he didnt: He was trying to duplicate what Bob Fitzsimmons did 106 years earlier... go from middleweight to heavyweight... and back down to light heavyweight... if he didnt win the light heavy title, he didnt complete the full job... he set a goal and he followed through with it.. and against the absolute best at that weight in Tarver)

He went from 193 pounds, 2% body fat, 8 months later drop down to 175 pounds.... if you have body fat, you can lose 18 pounds in a 10 week training camp.... if you have NO fat, do you know what you have to do to lose 18 pounds of pure muscle? you have to run.. and run.... and run some more... and sweat and completely dehydrate your body down to that weight... see comparison below:

    Ruiz fight

    8 months later, tarver fight...

Does that look like the normal declined look of a human body? from that to that in 8 months? to be able to take heavyweight punches, and then get knocked out from a middleweight punch? (johnson fought at 160)... for no apparent reason ... oh he has a glass jaw thats why.... thats why? you dont think dehydrating your body lowers the amount of impact your body can take? you can pass out from doing NOTHING if your dehydrated... could you imagine getting punched to the side of the head....

Now people say he gets hit more... does he? ... yes, he does.... but compared to who? compared to the prime roy jones? absolutely... but the prime roy jones was untouchable from anyone.... this roy jones isnt prime anymore... he does get hit... but so does chad dawson... hes a GREAT light heavyweight... joe calzaghe gets hit... hes been a champion for 15+ years... so roy gets hit... but is that enough to say hes not an elite fighter anymore? has his legs slowed a bit? absolutely... could you say roy has one of, if not theee... fastest hands at his weight, equalled with accuracy? yes you really could still say that... that dehydration took place 3 years ago.... since then hes sustained 2 fights in the last year against solid competition... not A fighters... but still solid... to knock down a young 29 year old undefeated solid competitor and at 38 years old... isnt a challenge? or admirable? or surprising? an Anthony Hanshaw that beat Sechew Powell, Kelly Pavlik and Sergio Mora but lost to Jermain Taylor in the amateurs...

He did get knocked out.. .but because he had a glass jaw? i feel his bodys restored... he just made 175 in july... the tito fight was made 3 weeks later, hes kept his weight low... and his body even looks rejuvenated, not the saggy body he had in the tarver fight

    One month ago, NYC presser:

Nobody wants to hear excuses in boxing.... me included... it doesnt matter why you lost.. you lost and thats it... and i agree... and roy did lose.. and he did got knocked out... knocked the HELL OUT.... my only debate here is... it wasnt because he had a glass jaw... and he just fell off the prime ladder... roy can take a punch, with a restored body, even a 39 yr old in shape body is better than a 35 yr old dehydrated body...

I also find it funny on a side note, how tarver was recorded at 220 lbs for the rocky 6 movie and 6 months later made 175... only to look JUST like roy did against him... when he fought bernard hopkins...

I dont think weight loss and dehydration is an excuse for losing a fight... i dont believe in excuses.... but i do feel its a valid reason... and the whole point of all that... is to say this.... roy isnt as SHOT as what people make him out to be...

if he gets knocked out next week... then i was wrong, and ill openly admit it... but from everything ive taken notice too... that wont be the case.. he is fighting somone who hasnt fought in 2 years.. but tito called out him, and i personally wouldnt mind roy gettin some more rounds under his belt before a possible title shot...

Obviously this is all opinionated... my theory isnt fact... and yours prolly isnt either... but i at least wanted to get it out there on my view on it.. im sure a lot of you will say ehhh hes shot hes a bum hes garbage... this is my view on why he isnt shot yet, and also my view on why he got KOed, outside of "he has a glass jaw", we could debate it for years.. all im saying is... i simply disagree, this is why.... life goes on

Toney was number 10 in 1992 when he first hit the scene and number 3 when he was at his best right before RJJ beat him.
yeah thanks you learn somethin every day... i guess from the way i was lookin at it as... he was the #1 p4p fighter in a weight class equal to where roy was at... whitaker was #1 and chavez was #2 but they werent anywhere near his next weight class, but he fought toney who was the p4p best around his weight class.... but yeah thanks i didnt know that before

Both Trinidad and Jones are shot. Two old guys duking it out, Jones is going to hurt Tito, he's the bigger guy and hits harder.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Roy is shot, just past his prime. Shot would suggest he has nothing left, and I don't believe that.
