No, plain and simple.
Could Vernon Forrest Beat Floyd Mayweather
Collapse
-
Yes it's possible.
At this moment (After watching Mosley against Cotto, Mosley I thought might have had flashes of old based on the Collazo fight prior etc) I think Forrest might be the best choice of anyone to beat Floyd.
I'm basing the following assessment on what I saw from Floyd in his last two fights, and how his respective opponent (DLH/Hatton) was able to at times.........win the round or parts of. Well all I could see.......is that Floyd was vulnerable to the jab against DLH and whenever Oscar threw it, it landed and he was temporarily dominating the round. That didn't happen often and it would only happen when Floyd lapses and does the 1 and done thing.
Hatton was able to land lead punches on Floyd. I don't know if that was his quickness, or that was Floyd standing flat footed. Well all I know is.......Forrest simply leads with the jab and throws a right hand behind it.
All he would do, is stick to his boxing routine. The question is.........can he deal with the shots Floyd would hit him with? LOL.
Because I'll be quite honest with you here. People say Mayorga has power........lol I don't see how those telegraphed punches are anywhere near as deadly as the accurate shots Floyd throws. If he lands in succession he'll more than likely have Forrest in trouble.
Would I pick Forrest? Nope. I'm just saying.......he'd stand a shot IMO.
Floyd by late TKO.

I mean, the question was "Can Forrest Beat Mayweather".
I interpret that as "Is It Possible That Forrest Could Beat Mayweather". Well yeah it's possible and I think you might as well conduct a series of coin flips on who really would stand a shot against him.
In reality, it's like nobody. He's just too ****ing good.
I only would lean towards a Forrest because of my first post.

Forrest IMO throws more jabs than Oscar and if he were to land accurately and often could Floyd handle it ? oh...along with the big right hand followed. Good post though by you Mr Knives.Comment

If the Floyd and Oscar 2 fight actually happenyou will see most of the buildup circle around Oscar's jab. When fight time comes I gurantee that punch won't be a factor for Oscar or at least not as much of a factor as you would think.Comment

Prime Vernon Forrest would whoop Floyd's ass, it would look similar to Forrest vs Mosley, but it would be a bit more competitive.
Today's Vernon Forrest would lose a UD to Floyd, he hasn't really impressed me in his comeback, he got a ridiculous gift decision against a washed up Quartey. I remember his interview with Merchant after the fight:
Forrest: I would like to thank god.
Merchant: You should thank the judges.
