    Earnie Shavers vs Randy Cobb

Tonight on ESPN Classic, they're scheduled to show Shavers vs Tex Cobb. Where I live (Pennsylvania) it starts at 12:00 midnight. This was a slobber-knocker fight.

Ah good ole Tex. 1,237 jabs from Holmes and 134 straight right hands and he kept coming.. World's best bar fighter. A truck ran over him and he still managed to throw a weak left jab for 10 minutes after the event.

    God Bless Tex(as)

Earnie is one of my favorite fighters to watch. His grit and power and vulnerability always made his fights exciting. As for Randall, he is a poster on Eas.tsideboxing's front page. He doesn't post as much anymore. He always hated my articles and hates George Foreman, but is actually a pretty funny guy still. Loved his one-liners. Tex does give good insight on the 70's heavyweight scene.

That fight was on the undercard of Hearns-Cuevas in Detroit. Shavers was definitely on the downside of his career at that point.

.....Tex was a character to be sure. One bad assed street fighting mofo. His character in "Raising Arizona" was the best.
