Will Floyd Ever Cement His Legacy

I Hope He Does He Needs To Wake Up And Fight Cotto And Stop Running Away From The Real Champion ......cotto Was Best At 140 And I Belive He Is The Best Right Now At 147......so Floyd Will Have No Legacy Unless You Call Being Known As The Guy Who Could Have Been Great Never Became Great Becuz He Was Scared To Get An 0 On His Record A Legend .................i Think Not!!!

Floyd's legacy is already sealed. Name me all the fighters who have won World Titles in 5 different weight classes.

In this age of multiple titles, it's not about how many titles you win, it's about who you beat.

Floyd is already first ballot Hall of Famer. He doesn't have to do anything but maintain his consistency and fight the best available opposition in order to achieve all-time greatness. As it stands, I'd say he's doing a pretty ****in good job.

Well they had half the number of divisions back in the day so Armstrong's 3 is the equivalent, that they were at the same time, and only 1 belt per division, blows Floyd's acc out of the water.

Then you have Thomas Hearns with 5, over a bigger weight range.

Oscar De La Hoya with 6.

Roy could have easily had 5 but he skipped cruiserweight, so he only had 4, but over a much larger weight range, plus he unified the bejeebers out of LHW, unifying is something Floyd has never done.

                Complicated

Maybe... maybe not. It could be a trend for boxers to start hanging them up early now, with all we know about the dangerous toll boxing can take. That having been said, mayweather right now doesn't have that Historic resume. Not all of this is his fault. You can only beat who you fight. But questions will come up in the future... Why no Mosley? Why no Cotto? Why no Williams?
Does Floyd have a legacy? Yes, he does. Is he one of the all-time greats? He could be, but right now it's impossible to say that definitively.

You have to beat the man, in order to be the man and that's exactly what Floyd di when he beat Baldomir. Again, how many fighters have won World Titles in 5 different weight classes.

It's already cemented...Cotto would just be another icing on the cake that haters would simply call an overrated win vs a come forward plodder...
