Can this fight happen in 2008, what would have to happen and at what weight?
Is Pavlik/Calzaghe possible?

You serious? I think Kelly is the easiest fight out there for Joe. Joe has the chin and anyway he wouldn't need it. Kelly doesn't have the handspeed or timing to land as much as Kessler did. More importantly, he doesn't have the defense to make Joe work for his shots. I'd bet everything I own on a decision at least eight points wide.
But to answer the question: no, Pavlik would never take this. He's going to protect his titles against Duddy and such fighters, until the scary MW prospects are ready.Comment

I think Calzaghe is tired of making 168. I haven't heard what the weight will be for the Hopkins fight, but if it is at 175 then Joe will never move down again. If he gets past Hopkins then I'd look for him to fight Roy Jones assuming he beats Trinidad. After that I think Calzaghe retires. So I think a Pavlik fight is unlikely.Comment

There are no reports that Calzaghe is having difficulty making weight. He just wants to be a multidivisional champ. He wants more fluff for his fluff(imo) resume. And to the individual who said Kessler beats pavlik by a wide margin. All fights involving these fighters would be difficult and close. They're all tough bastards. I like Pavlik but i'm objective enough to know it would be a difficult and exciting fight. Pavlik has an incredible chin, and he throws in major volume. One thing's for sure, we'd find out how well Calzaghe fights going backwards. Maybe he's slick enough to dance and move laterally but it Ain't gonna be easy.Comment

Calzaghe has been complaining for a long time that it's been tough to make 168. My prediction is he has a couple more fights above that weight and retires. Pavlik isn't a big enough name yet and I think Calzaghe would school him anyways, and that isn't what my rooting interest would be if it ever happened. There are no reports that Calzaghe is having difficulty making weight.
