Ok, I keep hearing guys talk about Floyd not fighting top Welters, but to be honest most of these guys only rose to recognizable status in 2007. I said recognizable not superstar status. These guys are just now becoming blips on the radar and the only real star out of the so called "top welters" is Cotto. The fireworks extravaganza Cotto and Mosley put on back in November and the fact that up until that point Mosley was the marquee name of the fight, has now put Cotto on the world wide map. Just because you hold a belt don't make you the best, the fact that in some divisions 5 or 6 guys can call themselves champion proves that. Ring champ, WBA regular champ, WBA super champ, WBO even has regular and super champ satus, IBF, WBC, not to mention champon imeritus and interim champ bull****. Cotto is the only real star in the division besides world wide superstar Mayweather. Numbers don't lie; two or the top 3 superstars in Cotto/Mosley draw 340,000 ppv fighting each other and the so called fraud Mayweather draws 850,000 vs Hatton and 2.4 million against DLH. In each case both fighters are responsible for the draws but look at the numbers, the 850,000 was the most for a non heavyweight non DLH fight. Cotto could probably garner about 350,000 each fight from this point on, that is where Mayweather was about 2 years ago. Margarito couldn't draw a bath of water let alone create a ppv extravaganza! How well would Williams vs Cintron really have done; is it even ppv worthy? NO! They are just now arriving on the national stage; yes national stage not worldwide. World class fighters fight world class challengers, not guys who just managed to keep a belt, or guys how just won one. There could be a ppv showcasing Mararito vs Cotto, Cintron vs Williams and let's just say Clottey vs Mosley that ppv would probably do 550,000 buys just because of the quality of fights not the pure star power. I think about if from a star power stand point and if it don't make dollars it really don't make sense.

As a fighter Floyd Mayweather is awesome!!! But!!! He's not the top welterweight!! How can he even be concidered the top welterweight when he hasn't fought any!!! Heck!! Might as well say he's the top heavyweight too since he's clearly a better fighter than any of the so called top heavyweights there are today!! No question Floyd is one of the best fighters to ever lace up the gloves in his era But at best he's the top JR Welterweight maybe but then again he didn't fight Hatton at 140 either now did he??
