Beat 3 fighters? That's not much.

Lennox Lewis was the king of the 90's.

Toney was beaten by Montell Griffin right after the RJJ fight. Toney was top 3 pound for pound at the time RJJ beat him but he had many close decisions and draws go his way and he was very inconsistent. But he might be Jones' best win.

Hopkins was regarded as a journeyman and a club fighter at the time and people thought it was a farce when Jones had that close fight with him. B-Hop went on to become a very good fighter but Bernard wasn't at his best until after 1997.

One of RJJ's best wins was the rematch against Montell Griffin (who had beaten Toney twice and Jones by DQ). Other good wins were against Reggie Johnson and Virgil Hill, two solid opponents whom RJJ looked impressive against.

Ruiz was a hand-picked heavyweight who was light enough (220 pounds). He won his title from a 40-year old Evander Holyfield. Lewis was the real champion. Another solid win though.

RJJ's SMW run was a joke. He beat the man James Toney but the opposition after that was atrocious. His LHW run was much better. Rematches for Toney and Hopkins would've been nice too.

                That, is just completely incorrect.

I might have exaggerated a bit but Hopkins had mostly fought journeymen before Jones. The best fighter Hopkins had beaten at that point was the USBA champion Wayne Powell and the solid journeyman Gilbert Baptist.

Roy Jones on the other hand had already impressively beaten solid fighters and was a highly regarded middleweight.

If you watch the fight, the commentators call it a lousy and unimpressive performance by Jones.

I can't find the fight right now but I'll get their records for you.
