Katsidis won't be a paper champ if he beats Casamayor. Even though he was beaten by Santa Cruz, the judges still gave Joel the linear title back and if Katsidis beats Casamayor he is THE CHAMPION of the lightweight division. Now linear champion doesn't mean the best in the division, just like when Baldomir was the linear welterweight champion when Mayweather (the best fighter in the division) finally took it from him. This would finally give Diaz his crack at the linear crown.

Don't you think this makes a Diaz/Katsidis fight LESS likely? Katsidis, now instead of being a mandatory for Diaz will fight his mandatories while Diaz will target big fights/who HBO wants to see him in with.

Holding the wbo will make katsidis no more of a draw but he will become one because of his style, similar to gatti's imo. I think cassamayor would be the perfect tune up before a diaz showdown. cassamayor has a wealth of experience and is still a very good fighter who katsidis could learn alot from although i dont think it will be as easy as people think
