In a follow-up to an earlier story, Amir Khan (15-0, 12KOs) has taken himself out of the bidding for a mandatory shot at British lightweight champ Jon Thaxton. The two fighters have been exchanging insults in the media for several weeks, but the fight is not going to happen for the moment. Instead Khan will focus on positioning himself for a major title shot at either WBA/IBF/WBO lightweight champion Juan Diaz (33-0, 17KOs) or WBO interim-lightweight champ Michael Katsidis (23-0, 20KOs). Thaxton wanted nothing to do with Khan and he new it. Fighters are treating Khan like DLH hoping they hit the jackpot facing him and when they get offered a career high purse they STILL price themselves out. -

Even the great Juan Diaz was fed bums to start with, you act like he's the first fighter that its happened to!
I must admit its too soon for him to face Diaz but couple, few years that could be a good fight.Comment

I say stick him in with the top guys.
Even if he loses it would be no big thing at his age.
And if he wins...JACKPOT.
A lot of fighters take too long these days before going in with decent competition.
Ricky Hatton had 30 odd fights before he finally stepped up.
IMO that is way too long.
I admire guys like Povetkin who is almost in line for a shot at the World Champ after only 15 fights.(If he beats Chambers)
He has already fought names that most guys wouldn't touch so early in their Pro careers.Comment

Iyeah, and Khan has the added luxury of being financially secure! so it's not like he Frank Warren has to put money in his pocket before potentially putting a loss on his record.say stick him in with the top guys.
