Rankings? Do they mean anything now days?

I get so pissed off when I see a boxer jump from one weight class to another and go straight into a title fight. What about the top ranked fighters who are already in that division? They just wait until other guys cut in line, ****en bull****!!!! How can a pugilist in any division, jump to a higher or lower weight class, and have their first fight in that new div. be a fight for the title? Let the guys who have worked their way up the ladder and who are ranked get a shot first. Boxing needs some serious regrouping right now.

There are too many boxers ( managers/promoters ) avoiding other great fighters just to keep their guys undefeated or still marketable sort of speaking.
My biggest question is as follows; Why don't the belt holders in all the different organizations fight each other like an elimination? We the fans, nor the boxers themselves will ever really know who the best is!

That's why I love those fighters who took on the best. Just to name some of the few that qualify to have these bragging rights:
    Gatti
    Vargas
    Barrera
    Sugar Ray L.
    De La Hoya

Sure, some of these guys lost in the process but they had Balls enough to take on the challenge. If anyone has some other guys who deserve to be on this list, would like to see them.

    Favorite Fighters of all time:

    Sugar Ray Leonard
    Michael Carbajal
    Micky Ward
    Ricardo Lopez
    Julian Jackson
    Tyson
    Ruben Olivares
    Terry Norris
    Salvador Sanchez
    Hagler

I think if the weight classes were cut to just the main ones, people would take rankings there more seriously and we wouldnt see things like Floyd being ranked the #1 welterweight for beating some bums there.

Fighters have always jumped up in weight in title bouts. often with little achievements at the new weight. That is nothing new at all.

And sorry, Arturo Gatti was not someone who constantly took on the best.

He did that twice, arguably three times if you count Baldomir (another case where a guy got a title shot over many more deserving challengers at that new weight class), and lost brutally and in one-sided fashion each time.
