    Banal, Bautista on Penalosa-Vorapin Undercard

Rather than have him fight on the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez undercard on March 15 in Las Vegas, Golden Boy Promotions wants to put promising world title prospect AJ “Bazooka” Banal on the undercard of WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa’s mandatory title defense against Ratanachai Sor Vorapin on March 2 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Peñalosa is such a good boxer at 35. He knocked out Jhonny Gonzales in his last fight. I hope to see him fighting Ponce de Leon again. AJ Banal is another prospect for a world title. This kid has a punch, young and very promising. But Boom Boom Bautista has lost his luster in the ring. HIs loss to Ponce de Leon greatly affected his performance. He is now a shadow if his old self.

Hes such a good fighter!! he was getting his ass beat during the whole fight against Gonzalez and gets a lucky body shot to end it all against a Jhonny who had trouble with the weight.... how is that good?

Aj Banal is another bumtista.... let it go, your prospects are ***ed.

A lucky body shot, no matter how you spell it, is still lucky... and still a win. Jhonny Gonzalez having trouble with his weight...? How discipline was he? Aren't Mexican boxers getting ill-discipline nowadays? AJ Banal is a must-see boxer, watch him knocking out the best of Mexico again in the near future. Well, Jerry Peñalosa is champion again... after turning 35, how can you argue with success? If Jhonny Gonzales took Jerry lightly, that's his prize... good for him... next time, tell him to prepare well!

So why don't I see you saying the same thing to Israel Vasquez? Jhonny was beating Vasquez' ass when he also got KOed! A KO is a KO.....when it comes to two champions fighting, your boys loses.

he may be a good boxer but the dude is overrated. he's just a solid club fighter. he got outboxed by freakin Ponce De Leon for christ's sake! and then Johnny was serving his ass up untill Penalosa got that lucky shot. A ko is a ko, no doubt about it but lets not start treating this guy as if he's a force to be reckoned with.

2501, it was Ponce who got exposed and outboxed......no clean hit was made by Ponce. Penalosa is a two time world champion just like his older brother.
But yeah he's not a force to be reckoned with coz he is wayyyy past his prime and is very very old for a bantamweight at 36.

i have to disagree with you about De Leon. I think that was the fight where De Leon realized that his wild brawling style will not work with everyone so he elected to accumulate points. He may have not landed ALL the cleanest shots but his output and workrate allowed him to land more. Ovbiously, its a difference of opinion but even I recognize that Gerry is a far superior boxer than De Leon.

Cause Vazquez wanst getting school like Gerry... he was obviously having trouble figuring out Jhonny but then what i expected happened, he KO'd him.. and atleast he has beaten someone worth mentioning unlike Penabum..

Penalosa exposed De Leon as a wild punching, devil-may-care-hope-it-connects type of boxer. He wins when he's lucky to connect. Against a good chinned ring general he looked foolish. He was even ashamed of himself after the fight. Funny a lot of people (like you) defend his win when the fighter himself is convinced he didnt do it right.

No Penalosa is not a force to reckon with but he did embarassed De Leon, a 20-1 favorite.
