Will you give Cotto credit if...

I noticed many people are predicting that De La Hoya will beat Cotto if the fight happens. If Cotto fight and beats him, will you guys give the man some credit? Will he deserve to fight Floyd? Or will you just say he beat a washed up De La Hoya.

In my opinion, as far as fighting and proving his skills Cotto has earned a shot at Mayweather already. All he is missing is the real superstar status. If he beats Oscar he will get it in my opinion. Then it will be time for Cotto-Mayweather to finally happen. Cotto will be coming off wins against Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, and Oscar De La Hoya, if he fights and beats Oscar of course, he will have earned his shot. Then after that the winner can worry about guys like Williams, Margarito, Cintron, etc.

I think Cotto will get KO'd if he fights Oscar.

If he beats him then I will give him credit.

He won't get credit for beating Oscar even from the people that think he will lose. He WILL have the exposure to get that famed mega-fight against Floyd. Actually the winner of this bout I can almsot gurantee will face Floyd at the end of the year.

if he can stop DLH in an impressive manner he will elevate his status tremendously, although it may actually cement Floyd's retirement. A win probably forces a mayweather fight and a loss, anything less than a early KO, would still give him some branding amongst the less traveled fan.

realistically DLH showed he still has a lot of game in the FLoyd fight but inactivity is his downfall. You'd think he'd realize that, maybe he just cant accept not being able to have it all?

He already has the credit, the only non Cotto-believers are Mayweather fans. Cotto has already earned his shot at Floyd.

"Everyone Mayweather has fought, Cotto has destroyed."

Not to mention, Mosley is a tougher opponent then Hatton lol, what else more could people want from Miguel?

Im a huge Cotto fan, but people are acting like he would destroy Delahoya and i just dont see how. Oscar has been knocked out once, to one of the greatest middleweights ever, now Cotto who just recently fought at 140 has no shot at stopping him which i think makes this an easy fight for Oscar. Sure Cotto will work the body but by doing so he would be leaving himself open to the biggest and hardest puncher hes ever faced, now with Cotto having a weak chin or at best, unstable chin, that is not a good combonation. And if he would try to box, Oscar is a great boxer and could work from the outside all night long so i really dont see why people think Cotto would dominate.

If Cotto were to stop Oscar, hes one of if not the biggest fighter in the world, and he gets all credit but i just cant see that happening when hes fought much much stronger and tougher fighters. I think Cotto has a better chance at beating Floyd then Oscar, but boxers also age overnight so who knows?

Cotto is a great fighter he is 2nd in the welterweight division only to PBF. Since PBF is retired well he is #1..he is the man right now at 147. He beat Judah and Shane enough said. If he were to beat DLH wow..that would be impressive even at this stage in DLH's carreer.
