    ..Malignaggi/Ngoudjo: The Good And Bad...

    For Paul Malignaggi:

THE GOOD.. He got a defense against a tough, durable, workman-like opponent. He's out of the way, so now he can focus on getting some fights that he would prefer. THE BAD.. He showed some vunerability in there against, essentially, a limited fighter. He has easier to hit than he should be and he usually is. If the guy in front of him could punch any harder, Paulie might of had his second loss.

THE GOOD.. Is that he, ironically, didn't look AS good as he did with the N'Dou fight. He looks beatable now. Since he has the possibility to go for some other fights now for a while, that might make some other opponents more willing to face him. THE BAD.. He didn't look as good as he did with the N'Dou fight. He looks beatable now. This guy was a decent fighter in front of him, and even when he half-ass fought inside, he could help himself out, a bit. Imagine THAT Malignaggi, with a guy like Ricky Hatton.

THE GOOD.. He DID win. He shouldn't have lost, and he got that over with. I believe him and agree with him when he says he was caught off-guard by the style change in the usually more aggressive Ngoudjo. Against a Hatton, he is gonna get a charger, in a sense. He'll know that, regardless. THE BAD.. When he got that with Cotto, he couldn't handle it. Hatton isn't Cotto, in my opinion, he's not as good. HOWEVER, how good is Malignaggi? That's still up for debate.

    For Herman Ngoudjo:

THE GOOD.. Another good showing for a young fighter against a world class fighter. That's two losses, with Jose Luis Castillo being the other, but still good showings. THE BAD.. he looked pretty good, but lost. That means, no one in or around 140 has a REASON to fight him. Had he won the Castillo fight, like some say he should have and it might be different. Nonetheless, that's a tricky one.

THE GOOD.. He showed more boxing skill then some might. He didn't look like Ray Robinson in there, but he looked more composed than he did in the Castillo fight. THE BAD.. It might not be the best thing for him. He's not that type of fighter, and with the style that he normally fights in, he should have a bigger punch.

THE GOOD.. This is his second fight to be televised in the U.S. One on HBO, this one on Showtime. He's more exposed then a lot of fighters in his position are/have been.THE BAD.. In both American, televised fights, he's come up short, officially. In this one, he actually lost (in my opinion).

Overall, it was a good fight. Pretty entertaining. To be honest, it shouldn't have been. Normally, Malignaggi should have handled that one a bit easier than he did. I still think he's a solid fighter. Nonetheless, I can understand any critisism he gets from this fight.

How he does against Hatton is STILL up for debate, but if this is a TRUE indication, it doesn't look good. Remember however, he prepared for a different style of fighter. He should be able to adapt, but it's also Herman Ngoudjo, not Hatton in there. I think he's a different fighter in that fight. At this point, I'd pick Hatton over him, but that's not to say I don't see how he could beat Hatton.

It was a semi-close fight, but I had it 116-12, for Malignaggi, and those announcers seemed QUITE biased. Especially Berstein, a guy I usually agree with. I just didn't see what he saw in there, I guess.
