It always kills me when guys swing their opinions and perspectives wildly on the basis of one fight.
After Collazo, guys were saying that Floyd would kill Hatton. Then after Urango, guys were saying that Floyd would kill Hatton. Hatton stops Castillo, and guys start saying that Hatton is too strong and relentless for Floyd.
Listen, guys. Paulie's the same guy that he ws BEFORE last night. He will give Hatton fits and outbox Ricky. In my opinion, PM underperformed last night. But he is still a top 140er ( not necessarily the top 140er).
Also, I took a good look at Paulie's body (no ****). He will be strong enough to hold Ricky off. Watch.
Side note: Buddy McGirt did all the right things last night. The first time I can say that since Jones-Tarver 2.
This was the make or break performance to get the Hatton fight and he failed. Hatton may give him a fight but I'll lose some respect for Ricky if he does because Malignaggi in no way deserves it over Junior Witter.
I'm not going to completely rule out a Malignaggi victory over Hatton but what I saw tonight was a farce and Malignaggi knows it himself. He didn't hurt Ngoudjo at all and held on for dear life in the last round.
Ngoudjo looked more like the winner to me. Sure you could score some rounds for Malignaggi but the look on his face told it all, he had a hard time talking trash and he didn't even try to call Hatton out.
This is perfect.
I now want to see the reaction of the Hatton groupies. Which opponent will Hatton choose? And why?
