I agree, against Cotto someone who could really hurt him Floyd will fight a defense central fight. He will make Cotto miss, Block those Body shots and pot shot to victory or he could counter punch sharply and KO him but I'm going with decision win from Floyd.

It most certainly could be a FOTY type action fight. Mayweather has been in many wars, especially eariler in his career, and Cotto obviously has been.

      These guys styles matchup perfectly.

hatton and Mayweathers styles matched up perfectly, but Hatton wasnt skilled enough AND he squashed his own work waaay to much to make it exciting.

Cotto doesnt, and he is in the same league as Mayweather.

I think it would be a tremendous tremendous fight. If not FOTY, on the level of a DLH-Mosley 1.

Trust me, it wont be up to Floyd whether its gonna be a war or not. Thats gonna be up to Cotto.

And the fact is, Floyd has never had to really avoid the ropes like the plague because he fights so well off of them. And because he hasnt had so much practice doing it, he is easily coaxed into the ropes.

It happens in every fight, but no fighter has been able to keep him there and actually do damage.

The way Cotto throws body shots is winging but fast, so even when his opponents gloves are covering the area that the body shots are going to hit, they still do damage and shake the body. u know what i mean?

Mayweathers defense isnt going to be as effective in this figh, and he's going to be forced into a more offensive fight. Its a fact.

And whats the most effective punches against Mayweather? A stiff jab and the left hook. Cotto has the best of both in the entire division.

It really is an unbelievable styles matchup.

Oh, and Cotto is very suceptable to the uppercut, something Mayweather does very well.
