Beating Hopkins would look good but nothing impressive. Neither would be beating Taylor or Pavlik. Beat some more guys at your weight or move up. Unfortunately there are no very good fighters in their prime at Calzaghe's weight. Or at least none I can think of right now.

Someone said that Taylor was flawed and asked what would a victory over him would prove. To that I ask what does beating reality stars manfredo, bika and hyped up Lacy prove?
The Lacy fight proved that Calzaghe was a force, and it did so because it was widely predicted to be a yankee blowout. Was Lacy hyped or did Calzaghe wreck him? Who knows. Either way it proved that Calzaghe was the real deal. The fights with Bika and Manfredo didn't prove anything really nor do they have to.

      It was sugegsted that

      A. Beating Hopkins proves nothing
      B. Beating Taylor would redeem Calzaghe in the eyes of the critics, whomever they may be.

Beating Taylor would prove less than beating Hopkins, because Taylor is a flawed Middleweight with two contentious wins over Hopkins while Hopkins is a proven veteran with two clear wins at Light Heavyweight. There's a reason Hopkins is rated top ten pound for pound while Taylor is not. The reason is that Hopkins is a better fighter.

There are a whole raft of them, but Calzaghe has just beaten the best of them. Zaghe is now moving up to Light Heavy for a big money fight with Hopkins. Maybe he'll retire then. Maybe he'll take on another big name at light heavy. Maybe he'll fight Jones. It's gotta be about the names and the money by this stage though.

Dan is a good source for boxing info, but I lost a lot of respect for him when he said he would vote for Arturo Gatti to be in the boxing HOF. To me that makes him a fan boy.

I'm thinking Pavlik or BAD CHAD!

co-signed, with the addition of, Lacey was first exposed then wrecked. i'd be very surprised Lacy accomplish much more than he already has.

His camp put him in a fight of that caliber way too early in his career. Reminiscent of my avatar.
