How does it affect Hopkins's resume if Taylor loses again to Pavlik?

His already very questionable middleweight reign took a major hit as Jermain faded through a series of uninspired defenses, culminating in a knockout loss at the hands of the only middleweight (other than Hop) Taylor ever fought. If Taylor loses badly again, how does that make Hop's two losses look?

Did Ali take the hit because Frazier & Norton were destroyed by Foreman ?

    It's all subjective.....timing, weights, styles.

      Well Ali beat Foreman.

But sure Hopkins would have a decent shot against Pavlik.

        True.

There's part of me that believes Hopkins was stripping himself to continue to make 160. At his age, it has been proven beneficial to bulk up a bit. I think even before Taylor lost to Pavlik, Hopkins had surpassed him on the lb4lb lists.
Hop seemed to get a bit more life with the move up in weight.

That said, I make Calzaghe the favorite over him.

Why so much disdain for Hopkins?

People SHOULD take that into consideration when evaluating Ali.

Foreman's body couldn't deal with the heat and humidity in Zaire or he would have KOed Ali.

Ali was much older than Foreman, yet he handled that same heat & humidity.
That's part of boxing......well, at least it was back in the days when fighters fought all over the world.

In my eyes nothing changes. I always thought Taylor was nothing special, but I picked him to win after seeing Hopkins level of activity going down fight after fight. He started slipping when he fought Joppy (or Allen 3 at the latest).

I think Hop found beneficial fighting old men with a low output, one weight drained, one outsized.

IMO Hopkins is a great but he is also DONE. It would take ridiculous odds to convince me putting any money on him against Calzaghe.

I think so too. The Foreman fight is as much a fluke as Wlad-Brewster I; I rank Forman, Frazier, and Ali about even. But I didn't want to go there in this thread.
