    Watching Taylor/Pavlik I again...

Taylor does best when countering and not when trying to control Pavlik. His defense at times was ok and he fought of the ropes very well. I just think he faded from wasted energy and Pavlik's constant pressure.

I think if he conserved his energy and worked more on countering Pavlik AFTER Pavlik throws jabs or right hands, he could win the fight and even land cleaner hard shots on Pavlik.

He's got to stop Pavlik's jab more. That left hand was in his face from the opening bell. Also he needs to throw shorter flurries; he really felt Kely's power in the sixth when he got caught standing in front (as he did successfully in the second) but ate a huge right. He never really fought again after that, he was in retreat the whole seventh.

You have to take into consideration that Kelly already made adjustments. What happened in round 2 couldn't have happened again. JT can only win a very conservative fight against Pavlik.

Kelly isnt the best counterpuncher. He took advantage of Kelly in the center of the ring and after a while, Kelly took advantage off Taylor on the ropes and corner. Like you said, Taylor fought well of the ropes and at times in the corners backing Pavlik off, but Taylor failed to realize that his efforts were being met with more resistance and didnt stay out of the corners. His biggest weaknesess that night were his lack of confidence and focus. If he fixes that for Fight 2, I think Taylor could pull the upset. And yea, it WOULD be an upset.

I have watched this fight twice recently I have gone from thinking Taylor will absolutely definetely win the rematch to not being sure again. Pavlik's punches look slow most of the time but they ****ing get there. hmmmmm. I wouldn't put money on it, I'd bet these worthless internet points on it though.

Taylor will do much better in the fight if he chooses to box instead of brawl which I think he will do this time against Pavlik.
